After the fall of Kiev, Russian architectural history continued in the principalities of Vladimir-Suzdal, and Novgorod, and subsequent states - the Moscow Kingdom, Russian Empire, The Soviet Union, and the modern Russian Federation. For a number of the most important buildings in the Kremlin and for the construction of the Moscow Kremlin itself, Italian architects were involved.
